KH Header Slips – Reviving the Details

Vollstein

With urban mining, it's inevitable that a high proportion of reclaimed clinker façades cannot be recovered as whole bricks. As a result, our production process yields a significant number of half and three-quarter bricks.

Rather than seeing this as waste, we’ve found a way to give these fragments new value — by transforming them into high-quality header slips.

We carefully process the well-preserved fired outer layer ("fire skin") of these bricks into premium KH Header Slips. This allows us to combine them with our standard stretcher slips to recreate not only classic brick bond patterns on façades — but also, for the first time, authentic header bond façades using 100-year-old clinker heads.

The result? Unique, historically rich surfaces that celebrate every detail of the original material.

Of course, our KH Header Slips undergo the same rigorous testing and quality controls as our classic clinker slips — ensuring durability, frost resistance, and full compatibility with modern building systems.
